Introduction

At Lime Tree Day Nursery, we believe the early years shape everything. Not just what a child can do, but who they become. That’s why our approach is built around warmth, curiosity and genuine connection.

Our Ethos

Our aim is simple: to achieve the highest quality nursery care for children and their families in and around Charnwood. We do that by creating environments where children feel safe, seen and free to explore.

We help lay the foundations for a full, enriched and happy start to each child’s early years. We give them the long-life skills they need to thrive, a sense of belonging, self-independence, confidence and the ability to spread kindness, all wrapped in curiosity, awe and wonder.

How We Learn (EYFS)

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework — the Government’s standard for children’s learning, development and welfare from birth to age five. But we don’t treat it as a box-ticking exercise. We use it as a scaffold for genuine, play-based learning driven by your child’s interests.

Every child is different, so every day looks a little different. Our practitioners plan activities around what each individual child is curious about right now — whether that’s bugs, baking, building or being outside.

Your Key Person

From the day your child joins us, they’re allocated a key person — a dedicated practitioner who gets to know them properly. Not just their routine, but what makes them laugh, what they find hard, what they’re proud of.

Your key person will plan activities based on your child’s interests, update their learning and development journal (accessible through the Family App), and be your first point of contact when you drop off or collect.

Getting Outside

We believe in outdoor play. Every day, in every weather. Where our nurseries have direct access to outdoor space, children can choose freely between inside and outside — we call this free-flow play, and the research on its benefits is clear.

We take children on local walks to parks, the library and the community around them. Understanding the world beyond the nursery walls is part of learning too.

Send Support

We are a fully inclusive nursery group. Every child is welcome at Lime Tree — and every child’s needs matter to us.

Each nursery has a dedicated SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator), supported by our wider SEND team who provide guidance, training and specialist advice across all settings. If your child has additional needs, please speak to us — we will work with you to make sure they thrive.

Food & Nutrition

Children learn better when they’re well fed. Our chefs cook fresh, balanced meals from scratch every day — following the Healthy Tots programme and catering for every dietary requirement and allergy.

No packets. No compromises. Just good, proper food that children genuinely enjoy.
